v
RULES AND STATUTES GOVERNING THE WEARING OF IDENTIFYING HARNESSES AND DRESS BY PERSONS OF SERVITUDE
A "Person of Servitude" ("POS") is defined as an "Indentured Person-Subject", be he either a "Free-Man for Hire" or an "Indentured Free-Man" or a "Bond-Man" (slave) - Adult, Adolescent or Child - Male or Female - herein referred to as "He/His", who's primary function is to serve, protect or provide for the comfort and security of a Sovereign, Regent, Satrap, Praetorian, Equestrian, his Master or Owner or some other Upper Class Individual.
Such "Person of Servitude", as an indication of his "Servitude Status", whether a Free-Man Servant or a Bond-Man, is required, as per the local "Statute", to be fitted and attired, at all times, with what shall be termed as a "Servitude-Harness or Cuirass" composed of leather body armor or strapping, encompassing his upper-body, chest, shoulders and back. At the option and pleasure of a Master-Owner, and if permitted by the terms of the local "Statutes" governing the Dress and Attire of "Persons-of-Servitude", a so-called "Servitude-Tunic" Coat or Blouse, made of cloth may be worn as an alternate form of "Servitude-Attire", which may be worn with or without a "Servitude Harness or Cuirass, as permitted or specified by "Statute". Such "Servitude-Harness or Cuirass" or "Servitude-Tunic", hereafter respectively termed "Harness" or "Tunic", is to be worn by a "Person of Servitude" whenever he may be subject to being observed while working, laboring, standing, walking, traveling or riding in a conveyance, or while in public view or in a public area, and/or at any time or place, public or private, where he may be subject to being in the presence of a Praetorian, Equestrian or other Upper-Class Citizen. As a general rule, females were rarely required to wear a harness or cuirass.
An exception to the above is: - at the discretion of his Owner-Master or other person in authority, a "Person of Servitude" may be permitted to remove his "Servitude Harness, Cuirass or Tunic" - while working out of public view - and/or when engaged in strenuous labor in a hot and sweaty environment - or when the wearing of his "Harness" or "Tunic" may pose an encumbrance to him during his labor or a hazard to his safety - or when the "Harness or Tunic" may be subject to becoming damaged.
If and When the members of a "work-detail" or labor-party have been given permission to remove their "harnesses" while engaged in their labors, the "Servant-Warden" (a senior ranked servant with designated oversight authority) or other "Person of Servitude", who has been placed in charge or given command of the "un-harnessed" group of servants, will normally be required to wear his Servitude-Harness at all times while in charge of, or in command of such an "un-harnessed" labor party, to mark and identify him as the designated "Person in Charge".
The "Servitude-Harness or Cuirass" is to be composed of, and constructed of leather straps and/or leather plate-segments, and the "Harness or Cuirass" is to be worn on the outside of, and over any other body garment. The "Harness/Cuirass" is to be snugly, neatly and securely fitted over and around the subject's upper-body chest, shoulders and back and is not be obscured from frontal view by any other garment, coat or cape, except in the instance of very cold, windy or inclement weather, when at the Owner-Master's or his Warden's or Leader's discretion, a covering cloak may be worn for the "person-of-servitude's" comfort, and/or for the protection of his harness or tunic. The "Harness" or "Tunic" may be decorated or ornamented and be of a style or design and construction of the Owner-Master's choosing, in accordance with the established or accepted "persons-of-servitude" dress-codes of his respective Province, Region or Castra of residence.
A "Person of Servitude" ("POS"), out of public view, who is not wearing his "Servitude-Harness, Cuirass or Tunic" is termed to be "Un-Harnessed" or "Un-Covered", and he must be "Re-Harnessed" or "Re-Covered" by having his "Servitude-Harness/Cuirass/Tunic" re-installed onto his body before he is permitted to appear in public view. In addition, a "POS" is normally required to be wearing his designated "servitude-attire" while "in transit" to and from the site of his assigned labors and his "servitude" compound or Castra of employment.
In some Provinces and Regions, an "Un-Harnessed" or "Un-Covered" servant working or seen with his chest and/or back un-covered is said to be in a "Bare" or "Bared" condition of appearance. The more derogatory term of "Beast", is at times, applied to a so-called "Bare" servant, or is used when referring to a servant who is observed as being "un-harnessed" or "un-covered", and a group of such "un-harnessed - un-covered" laborers is sometimes referred to as a "Beastiary".
If at any time, should a "Person of Servitude", as defined by this statute, who is not wearing a proper and visible "Servitude-Harness or Tunic", be found to be in "public view" or in a "public area", - such "Un-harnessed" or "Un-Covered" Person of Servitude will be subject to arrest, impoundment, discipline and punishment, and in addition, his responsible Owner-Master or Warden may be subject to citation and/or fine and may be required to retrieve, at his own monetary expense, such an errant and "Un-Harnessed - Un-Covered" Person of Servitude.
In most all Provinces and Regions, "Persons-of-Servitude" ("POS"), whether Freeman, Indentured, Slave or Semper-Securum, are required to be registered, as such, with the Provincial, Regional, Praetorian or Local Authority, where the "POS's" Master or Owner has his primary residence and/or where the "POS" is housed, maintained or deployed by his Master or Owner.
In most Provinces, Regions and Castra Households, the children of servants or slaves are subject to being drafted into "Servitude" Duty Service when they reach 10 years of age or 54 inches in height, at which time, boys are normally required to wear a servitude-harness or cuirass, and girls to wear appropriate female "servitude attire". At that time, a new child or adolescent "servitude-subject" would be given his/her official Servitude-ID, which is normally his/her Father's ID with a "P " suffix for "Por" or "Boy", or a "F" suffix for a girl, indicating they are the Son or Daughter of the Servant who's ID they have on their name-plate. They would likely retain this "Servitude-ID" until they were around 18 years old, when they would be issued their own unique Servitude-ID Number.
At about 8 to 10 years of age, servant boys, if permitted by "Statute" and allowed by their Master-Owner, may be permitted to be enlisted into the local "Learning Academy", where they can be taught how to read, write, do numbers or learn other skills. When attending the "Academy", servant boys are generally required to wear "servitude attire" to set them apart from the upper-class children also attending the "Academy". Servant Girls are seldom educated in an Academy, but are instructed in house-keeping and protocol skills by the women of the servant corps.
Masters and Owners of "Persons-of-Servitude" may be required to display, by any legible means, upon the "POS's" Servitude Cuirass, Harness or Tunic, his Name and/or the Provincial "ID" Code of the "POS's " Province of origin or residence, along with his assigned Servitude Registration Number within that Province. The Name and/or ID-Code and Number to be normally displayed on the Front or on the Shoulder-Plates of the "POS's" Harness, Cuirass or Tunic, or as specified by "Statute" in "Oranus" and "Sardonia", only on the Back of the Harness, or, on both the Front and Back of the Harness or Cuirass, as required by Provincial or Local Statute. The additional or secondary display of the "POS's" Name and/or Registration ID and Number on the front or back of his harness or cuirass, where not required by statute, is optional, and at the pleasure and discretion of the "POS's" Master or Owner.
If and When a "Person-of-Servitude" is sold or traded within his Home Province or Region, his registration number may stay with him or be changed at the option of his new Master or Owner, depending on the local rules or statute. If sold or traded to a new Master or Owner in a different Province or Region, a "POS", at the option of his new Master-Owner, may retain his "Number" (if that Number is unique and not a duplicate of another "POS's" Number within that Province), with just the old Provincial ID being replaced by the new Provincial ID, - or at the option of his new Master-Owner and/or depending on the local rules or statute, may, or may not, be required to be re-registered with the Local Authorities and assigned a new ID-Code and Registration Number".
The Master-Owner may determine the type and style of "Servitude Harness or Cuirass", or the so-called "Harness or Servitude-Attire of the Day" to be worn by his "persons of servitude" for that particular day, portion of a day, event, occasion or other time period. The style and type of "servitude harness or cuirass", along with any additional "dress" or other appearance items, such as: - tunics, helms, collars, shoulder-pauldrons, elbow-kops, wrist-bracers, hand-gauntlets, waist-belts, leg-skirts, leg-drapes, thigh-cuisse, lower-leg greaves, ankle, calf or tall leg-boots, to be worn at any particular time by an individual servant or the servant corps, in whole or in part, will normally be given by a verbal directive and/or specified by being "posted" by the use of written characters, symbols and/or pictograms displayed in or near the servant's quarters or compound. Such "posting" of the "Servitude-Attire of the Day" would normally be done by the Master-Owner, or his designated "Servant-Wardens", or a designated "Senior Servant" or other person authorized to make a decision as to the proper or appropriate "Harness, Cuirass or Tunic" and other attire to be worn by an individual servant, servant group or the entire servant corps.
A Master-Owner, at his discretion, may permanently emplace or "lock" a "servitude-harness, cuirass or tunic" upon a servant-subject's body to prevent the unauthorized removal or theft of the harness or tunic. The securing and "locking" of the harness to be accomplished in a manner of the Master-Owner's choosing, that does not cause pain or undue discomfort to the wearer.
At his Master-Owner's discretion, a "Person of Servitude" may be required to wear a "standing" work or dress neck collar of leather or other suitable material in addition to the required "Servitude-Harness or Tunic". Such collar to be of a style and construction as his Master-Owner may determine and provide.
A "Person of Servitude" may not remove his "servitude-harness", neck-collar or a garment identifying him as a "Person of Servitude" without the permission of his Master-Owner, Warden, Team-Group-Leader or someone with recognized authority over him.
In most all provinces and regions, and particularly in the Class-1 Provinces of Aures-Locorum, Antius, Florentius, Hamaria and Randoria, the wearing of an orange or copper colored harness, long-duster garment, upper-body garment or a combination of predominantly orange/copper colored attire was a generally accepted and recognized identification of a "Person of Servitude".
In the Provinces of Aurus-Locorum and Terram-Pretius, as well as, Antius, Calpurnius, Dexia, Florentius, Gryphon, Hamaria, Muranus, Norbanus, Oranus, Pannania, Randoria, Vestia and Volcania, a so-called "Servitude-Tunic" military style coat may be worn by a "person of servitude" in place of a "Servitude-Harness" at such times and locations as his Master, Owner or the Provincial or Regional Rules of "Servitude-Attire" may permit. The recognition and acceptance of such "Servitude-Tunics", when worn by a "person of servitude" in place of a "Servitude-Harness" while outside of his Home Castra Compound, Region or Province, is at the discretion of the authorities in the Castra, Region or Province, where the "person of servitude" is at the time. A "person of servitude" working, traveling or otherwise outside of his home Castra, Region or Province may be required by the "local statutes and/or authorities" to wear a proper and recognized "servitude-harness" with and over his "servitude-tunic".
Praetorians, Equestrians and other Citizens of nobility are admonished not to wear, as a part of their wardrobe, what could appear to be, or be assumed to be a "Servitude-Harness or Tunic", Work or Dress Collar, or other "Servitude" style attire, lest they be mistaken for, and possibly challenged as a servant or bond-man, the result of which could be the loss of the respect, privileges and accommodations normally accorded to persons of the upper classes, but otherwise denied to a "Person of Servitude".

RULES - STATUTES GOVERNING MOVEMENT AND SECUREMENT OF PRISONERS - CRIMINALS - PERSONS OF SERVITUDE
The requirements for the bondage and securement of servants and bond-men traveling attended or unattended, or "in transit" through a particular province are specified and governed by the rules and statutes of that Province and/or Region.
In most Provinces and Regions, criminals and prisoners in custody, when not secured or detained in a "lock-up" enclosure, or when "in transit", with or without an attendant, are required to be so-called "four-point" bound at the wrists, arms, knees and ankles, and are generally required to be also fitted with a speech suppression collar, appliance or mask, and/or a sight impairing appliance or blinding mask, or have their head or face covered.
In the Class-4 Provinces of Marathon, Maria, Muranus and Sardonia and the Class-3 Provinces of Gallus, Oranus and Talmantus, servants and/or bond-men left unattended in public places are generally required to be anchored or secured to a tree, post, wall or other immovable structure, and in most instances are also required to be speech-impaired, and sometimes blinded as well, when so secured. In many such Provinces and Regions, posts, railings, wall-rings or other devices are provided in public areas for the securing of unattended "persons-of-servitude".

RULES GOVERNING THE KEEPING OF SEMPER-SECURUM SUBJECTS
Consult the Semper Securum Page for the Rules governing the owning and keeping of "Semper-Securum" Subjects - Designated as "Persons-of-Servitude" who, as akin to living mannequins, are kept and maintained in a constant state of Body and Upper-Arm Bondage and/or by having at least their Knees tied and bound, and generally also, having their Legs, Ankles and Feet or one or all of them, bound, secured and immobilized. It was common in many Provinces to register "Semper-Securums" using numbers beginning with a "Zero", such as - "GR-074", "TF-067", "VT-015", etc. "Gallus" and "Oranus" used a "9-prefix" for their "Securums" -> "GL-926", "OR-994".

CLASSES AND ACCOMMODATIONS OF INNS AND BISTROS
The Inns and Bistros in most all Provinces had the option of choosing which of the three primary classes of individuals they desired to serve and accommodate within their establishments. The Primary Classes were:
"A" - Sovereigns, Reagents, Patrician, Equestrian or other recognized "Upper-Class" Citizens.
"B" - Plebeians, Shop Owners, Street Vendors, Broker-Traders, Medical, Soldiers, Constables or other citizens generally recognized as, or considered to be "Middle-Class" Citizens.
"C" - Servants, Slaves and other so-called "Persons of Servitude". In some Regions, Soldiers and/or Street Vendors were considered to be "C" Class individuals.
A sign bearing various combinations of: "A", "Ac", "B", "Bc", "AB", ABc", "BC", "C" or "ABC" was normally posted at or near the main entrance or other separate entrances to the Inn or Bistro indicating which "Class" or "Classes" were welcome to enter through that particular entrance to be served and accommodated, as follows:
"A" Only Patricians, Equestrians and other Upper-Class citizens would be served and accommodated, with no provisions available for serving or accommodating Class-C "Persons of Servitude" that may be accompanying their Class A Masters or Patrons.
"Ac" Only Patricians, Equestrians and other Upper-Class citizens would be served and accommodated, but there is a separate area available for the accommodation or holding of Class-C "Persons of Servitude" that may be accompanying their Class A Masters or Patrons.
"B" Plebian and other Middle-Class citizens would be served and accommodated. Upper-Class individuals were also welcome, but they would be served and accommodated along with and equal to the Plebian Classes in a non-discriminatory manner in a common area. "Persons of Servitude" (C-class) were not usually welcomed or allowed to enter, but could be accommodated, at the discretion of the establishment's owner or manager, if they were clean, properly attired and accompanied by their Master or Owner.
"Bc" A Class "B" establishment which has provisions for the accommodation or holding of Class-C "Persons of Servitude" in a separate area while their Class "B" Master or Owner was being served.
"AB" Patricians, Equestrians and other Upper-Class citizens would be served and accommodated in a separate area set-aside and reserved for them, while Plebian and other Middle-Class citizens would be served and accommodated in their own designated room or area set-aside for them within the establishment. "Persons of Servitude" (C-class) were not usually welcomed or allowed to enter, but could be accommodated, at the discretion of the establishment's owner or manager, if they were clean, properly attired and accompanied by their Master or Owner. Upon the request of the highest-class Patron in a group party of "mixed classes", along with the agreement and discretion of the establishment's owner or manager, a group of mixed classes (B and C, possibly A as well), could be served and/or accommodated together provided they were clean and properly attired. Some "BC" establishments had a common area set-aside for the serving of "mixed-class" groups.
"ABc" A Class "AB" establishment having provisions for the accommodation of Class-C "Persons of Servitude" in a separate area while their Class "A" or "B" Master/Owner is being served.
"BC" Plebian and other Middle-Class citizens would be served and accommodated in a separate area designated and reserved for them, while "Persons of Servitude" would be served and accommodated in their own designated room or area of the establishment. "B" Class individuals were welcome to be served along with, and in the company of "Persons of Servitude" if they chose to do so. Upper-Class "A" citizens would not normally patronize a "BC" Class Inn or Bistro, but would normally be accommodated, provided they were willing to be accommodated along with and in the company of the normal clientele served by the establishment.
"C" An establishment set-aside to serve and accommodate primarily "Persons of Servitude" (servants and slaves) or other so-called "Lower-Class" individuals not usually welcome or accommodated at other establishments. The other "Higher (A and B) Classes" would not normally patronize a "C" Class Inn or Bistro, but would be normally accommodated, provided they were willing to be served along with, and in the company of the normal lower-class clientele.
"ABC" All three Classes would be separately served and accommodated in the rooms or areas of the establishment that were reserved and set-aside for them. Upon the request of the highest-class Patron in a group party of "mixed classes", along with the agreement and discretion of the establishment's owner or manager, a group of mixed classes (A, B or C), could be served and/or accommodated together provided they were clean and properly attired. Some "ABC" establishments had a common area set-aside for the serving of "mixed-class" groups.

MASTERS AND OWNERS CONCLAVES
So-called "Masters and Owners Conclaves" ("MOC") are held once or twice a year in the various Provinces or Regions who choose to host them. Most of these annual or semi-annual "Conclaves" were hosted, at random, on a rotating basis, by the Provinces of Antius, Aures-Locorum, Florentius, Hamaria, Randoria, Terra-Ferrum and Terram-Pretius, but they have also been held at least once in the Provinces of Dexia, Glycon, Gryphon, Micor, Micon, Norbanus, Pannania, Procyon, Vestia and Zernania. After some objection from some Sovereigns and Reagents, the "Lenatus" or "Servitus-Cessare" (Servant's Rest), a small Region of "Antius", which had become autonomous as a place for "free-man servants to retire, has hosted several well-received "Conclaves". The "MOC's" / "Conclaves" provide an opportunity for the Sovereigns, Reagents, Servitude Masters and Owners from the many Provinces and Regions to meet with each other to discuss and legislate on various topics, as well as to view and examine the Praetorian, Equestrian and Servitude attire, along other devices and equipment being offered by the many harness workshops, clothiers and manufacturers, who display their wares for possible sale and future orders. The "Conclaves" are also an opportunity for many Masters and Servant Owners to buy, sell, barter or trade their "Persons of Servitude" (servants, slaves, securums), as well as, Display and otherwise "Show-Off" their respective "Persons of Servitude", who are often attired in lavish and extravagant "Dress and Exhibition Servitude Harnesses", Equipment and Attire. A major activity at these "Conclaves" is the display, exhibition and competitive judging of the skills and attire of "Persons of Servitude", whose Masters and Owners compete for awards and commendations. An Master-Owner was generally limited to entering no more than three servants into a skills or attire competition. It was not unusual for "Freeman" Servants to also exhibit themselves and sometimes enter into the competition for skills and attire. Most "Persons of Servitude" considered it an honor and a privilege to be selected by their Master or Owner to be taken to a Masters and Owners Conclave for competitive exhibition and judging, while many others resisted being chosen for "Conclave-Display-Duty". For most "servitude-subjects", however, there was little or no choice, as they were generally obligated to do what ever their Masters or Owners required or asked of them.

ROYAL RANDORIAN WORKSHOP AND ITS RESTORATION OF LEATHER ITEMS
The Royal Randorian Workshop (RRW) in the Province of Randoria was the premier producer of leather "work" and "dress" harnesses, collars, helms, boots and other "work" and "dress" accessories. They were also well known for their ability to refurbish and/or restore work-worn and damaged leather harnesses and other leather items. On average, 20% to 30% of their business was done in refurbishment and restoration work on their own manufactured items as well as those made by other workshops. The RRW possessed a proprietary process, machinery and materials for restoring and refurbishing leather, and in many instances, a leather harness refurbished and restored by them would be returned to its owner in a near "like new" condition, generally at about 1/2 to 2/3 the cost of a newly made harness. Minor and shallow scratches and scuffs could be largely eliminated and major damage could be made to look a lot better and less obvious by the application of a special and secret formula polish. Due to these proprietary methods, the interior working areas of the Randorian Workshop were generally not open to visitation or viewing, except by invitation. Although other workshops, such as the Panthro Harness Works and Tryon Harness Service Shop, also did restorations, frequently at a lower cost, the Randorian Workshop's reputation for quality and attention to detail garnered them a large portion of the refurbishment and restoration business. The Tryon Services (THS & TTS) later became a major restoration and customizing competitor to the RRW, particularly in the custom mounting and internal anchoring of harnesses over servitude tunics.
MISCELLANEOUS DETAILS AND DESCRIPTIONS
ANTI-INSURRECTION STATUTES - Over time, there have been two "Servitude or Slave Anti-Insurrection Statues" implemented. The first was put in place following a "Slave Revolt" which occurred in the Maria, Marathon and Sardonia Provinces, all of which had large servant and slave populations. This revolt began in "Sardonia" and got quickly "out-of-hand", spreading to "Maria" and "Marathon" and was finally "put-down" after a series of engagements lasting several months. A so-called "Servitude Anti-Insurrection Statute" was implemented within the Maria, Marathon and Sardonia Provinces by their respective "Provincial Sovereigns", which imposed penalties on those who had instigated and taken part in the "Revolt" and also required that all servants and slaves of those Provinces be attired in non-removable leather harnesses and attire secured onto their bodies to mark and identify them as "persons-of-servitude" and also to distinguish them as such from the general civil population. After about 2 years, the "secured-harness" mandate and some other terms of this so-called "AI-Statute" were relaxed and gradually became less strenuously enforced. However, the "AI" requirement that a "Person-of-Servitude" (a servant or slave) be attired in a visible leather harness or cuirass when in public view, or when in the presence of a Person of the Upper Class, remained in favor and it continued to be enforced by most Master-Owners. Within a year or so after the institution of the "AI-Statute", the "servitude-harness" mandate had also been largely adopted and was being enforced in most other Provinces and Regions.
About a decade after the suppression of the initial "Servitude Up-Rising", a second "Servitude-Insurrection" broke out in the "Sorgonia" Province following the death of Sovereign "Sorganius", its founding and only ruling monarch, who had died suddenly without an apparent heir. Without a Sovereign or other ruler in firm control, members of the "Sorgonian" Praetorian Hierarchy, as well as factions within the "Servitude" population of "Sorgonia", vied for leadership in an attempt to gain control of the small and industrial "Sorgania" Province, leading to the development of a "Servitude Insurrection", which began to spread in varying degrees and intensity into several other Regions and Provinces. This "Second-Insurrection" was only briefly tolerated and after a time was suppressed, except in "Sorgonia", where the revolt had initially begun and remained quite strong and intense. It took longer to get "Sorgonia" under control, due to the lack of a unified Upper-Class capable of taking charge to quell the up-rising and then getting lasting command of the situation.
"SORGONIA" PROVINCE ANNEXED - To quell and get control of the rebellious situation in "Sorgonia", the Province was subsequently annexed and taken over by the neighboring "Gallus" and "Micon" Provinces. The instigators of the uprising, some of which had fled, were rounded-up and punished and/or imprisoned, with the remainder of the "servitude-corps" of "Sorgania" (about 170 in number), being impounded, with the more desirable servants and slaves being distributed by lottery and auction among the various Master-Owners in "Gallus" and "Micon", and the others who were not taken in the lottery or auction, being sold or traded to "Brokers" or Master-Owners in other Provinces, Regions and Castra Households.
However, the disposition of the four Senior Ranked Servant Wardens, "Kyle", "Fallon", "Paulus" and "Pan", none of whom had supported or taken part in the rebellion, resulted in some arguments and feuding among some of the Reagents and Master-Owners in "Gallus" and "Micon", who coveted the four valuable Servant-Leaders, all of whom could read, write and work with numbers. A panel of arbitration was formed, who heard the arguments and then brokered agreements whereby "Fallon" was acquired by Reagent "Salvius" in "Gallus", "Kyle" was awarded to Reagent "Caltranus-IV" in "Micon", and "Paulus" was sent to Reagent "Saucan", also in the "Micon" Province. "Pan", due to his short 5' 4" tall stature, was the least sought-after of the four "Servant-Wardens" and he was initially taken by Reagent "Tambor" in "Gallus", who after several months, traded "Pan" over to Reagent "Salvius", where he again served with "Fallon" in "Servant-Warden" duty. "Fallon" and "Pan" made a good pair, as both men were close friends and had near identical "Magnus" styled cuirasses, differing only in the size needed to fit their respective 6' 3" and 5' 4" heights.
SECOND ANTI-INSURRECTION STATUTE - While only a minority of "servitude-subjects" had taken part in the "Second Up-Rising", the Sovereigns and Reagents of the various Provinces and Regions decided "enough was enough" and formulated the so-called "Second Anti-Insurrection Statute", soon termed simply as the "SAIS" ("Say-Is") or "AI-Statute". This "Second AI-Statute" was adopted in most all of the Provinces, except for "Aurus-Locorum", "Florentius" and "Terram-Pretius", who had no permanent slaves and had not had any rebellions, however these three Provinces did concur in principle with the "SAIS" and agreed to recognize its provisions, although they did not fully implement or enforce all its mandates.
The "Second Anti-Insurrection Statute" mandated that all "Persons of Servitude" were required to wear an upper-body harness or cuirass at all times, even when off-duty, resting or sleeping. The Statute stipulated that a servant subject's body harness or cuirass was to be permanently secured, locked and anchored onto his body in such a way that he could not remove it himself or have it removed from him by another person without great difficulty, or destroying the harness to do so.
The most common method of securing a subject's body harness onto his body was the placement of one of more rivet-studs near one or more of the harness' securing buckles, whereby the belt-tab was anchored to the belt-strap, thus preventing the disengagement of the buckle. Another method was to remove the buckles and replace them with riveted or laced connections. In some instances, particularly on "cuirass" style harnesses which more fully enclosed the upper-body, a separate stub-strap was riveted in-place across the side-openings, and for an even more secure emplacement, an internal binding-strap was fastened to the inside of the cuirass casing. This internal binding-strap was then secured under the wearer's arms and around his upper torso, and the outer cuirass would then be closed and buckled over and around it, thus concealing and burying the anchor-strap inside the cuirass casing where it could not be reached without opening the cuirass.
After some time, the "Secured-Harness" provision of the "AI-Statute" was relaxed permitting a Master-Owner, at his discretion, to allow his servant-subjects to remove their harnesses when out of public view or when resting or sleeping. The "Statute" continued to mandate that all "persons of servitude" be required to wear a body-harness or cuirass, as an indication of their "servitude status", whenever they may be subject to being observed while working, laboring, standing, walking, traveling or riding in a conveyance, or while in public view or in a public area, and/or at any time or place, public or private, where such a "person-of-servitude" could be subject to being in the presence of a Praetorian, Equestrian or other Upper-Class Citizen. As a general rule, females were rarely required to wear a "servitude" harness or cuirass.
=============================================================================
STYLE AND DESIGN OF WORK - DUTY AND DRESS "SERVITUDE" HARNESSES - Most Work-Duty or Dress-Duty "Servitude" Harnesses were of two basic designs: The "XX" - "Duel-Crossing" with double-cross-straps, "over the shoulders and crossing each other over the chest and back", and the "H-Pattern - Suspender" design with vertical front straps passing over the shoulders and crossing over each other at the center of the back, or forming a "V" pattern across the back and joining at the rear-center of the waist-belt.
The usual configuration for "crossing body-straps" was for the right shoulder-strap to cross-over the left-shoulder strap, or for "the right to overlap the left" if required at a junction of the straps, such as the junction of "V" pattern straps at the waist-belt. Of course, there were always exceptions to this general practice depending on the whim of the maker or the desire of the owner or buyer. Most all of the so-called "Boxed-X" Work-Duty Harnesses produced by the Ferrum Harness Masters were made with the right-shoulder strap passing over top the left-shoulder strap across the chest, and the left-shoulder strap over-lying the right-strap across the back, with the vertical side-straps overlying the cross-straps where the two sets of straps were merged together while passing over the shoulders.
The "H-Pattern - Suspender" type harness came in several sub-styles: "HX" with vertical "H" pattern front straps and "X" pattern crossing back-straps ** "HV" having front vertical "H" straps and "V" pattern straps over the back ** "XH" with cross-straps at the front and vertical "H" straps over the back ** and "XV", which had "front-crossing" straps with inclined "V" pattern back-straps from the shoulders and meeting at the waist-belt at the center of the back. A rarely used "VX" style had an opposite strap arrangement from the "XV", but it was generally considered not very pleasing in appearance and was seldom utilized. Most "work-duty" harnesses had a minimum of decoration or enhancement, while harnesses intended for use during "dress-exhibition" situations were generally decorated with medallions and icons of the buyer's choosing.
The majority of "work-duty" harness production was shared between the Ferrum Harness Masters Workshop (FHM) in the Terra-Ferrum (Land of Iron) Province, Micor Harness Works (MHW) from the Province of Micor, and the Royal Randorian Workshop (RRW) in the Randorian Province, along with a number of smaller shops who sold mostly within the province or region were they were located. "Dress-Duty" and "Exhibition" Harnesses were mostly made and sold by the Randorian Workshop, Micor Harness Masters, Panthro Harness Works, (PHW) in the Procyon Province, along with some being produced by the Natura Leather Crafters (NLC) of the Pannania Province. The "RRW", "MHW" and "PHW", along with the Tryon Harness Service ("THS") in the "Talmantus" Province, and other smaller shops, also offered harness and cuirass refurbishment and enhancement services, along with cuirass and harness "securement, locking or internal-anchoring.
Simple open design cross-strap harnesses, with body strapping of various widths, provided the minimal amount of "upper body covering" needed to meet the requirements of most "work-harness rules". The open strap design also assisted in keeping the subject more comfortable and cooler when working in a warm environment by leaving a larger portion of his upper body skin area exposed. However, many "work-duty" and "dress-exhibition" harnesses, and cuirasses were of a more closed design, or were worn over a "Sub-Orum" (under-harness) Tunic or Garment for more body warmth during cooler working conditions, or at such other times as directed or specified by the subject's Master-Owner. A head-dress, neck collar, wrist gauntlet-bracers, and sometimes leg greaves, were generally required to be worn along with a work-duty harness while traveling in public and/or "to and from" the job site, or for "dress or display" situations. The wearers head-dress, collar, bracers or greaves were sometimes permitted to be removed by him while engaged in actual labor at the discretion and option of the subject's master or group leader.
=============================================================================
INTERNALLY ANCHORED HARNESSES - Came into use following the implementation of the "Second Anti-Insurrection Statute", aka "AI" Statute or "SAIS", which mandated that all "persons-of-servitude" were to have their "servitude" cuirass or harness "secured or locked" onto their bodies at all times, even while resting or sleeping. Most all workshops offered "harness-locking" services, where the servant's harness or cuirass had its securing buckles replaced with riveted connections, or by disabling the buckles by locking-down the tab-ends of the buckle-strap to the base-strap with rivet-studs thus preventing the buckle from being opened and disengaged, and making it near impossible for the wearer, on his own, or even with another's help, to remove his harness or cuirass.
The more advanced and secure concept of "Anchoring" a harness "in place" using a separate "anchoring foundation harness" worn internally under a "servitude" tunic with anchor-studs protruding through holes in the tunic's fabric to engage and anchor an externally worn dress harness was primarily developed by the Tryon Harness Service ("THS") along with its allied Tryon Tunic Service ("TTS") in "Talmantus", also known together, as the unified "Tryon Services" ("TRS"). The Micor Harness Works ("MHW") in the "Micor" Province, at about the same time, also came-up with a similar "Internal Harness" or "IH" Anchoring System, thus the "TRS" and "MHW" became the primary providers of this so-called "Harness Anchoring" service.
Initially, harnesses were anchored only at the waist with two or four studs placed at the front and/or rear four "quarter-points" on the waist-belt at the body-strap junctions. Later six, seven, eight and nine-point anchoring of the harness came into use, with the number of anchor-points being determined by the amount of anchoring desired, along with the style of the harness and style of tunic over which the harness was to be worn. Seven-Point and Nine-Point Anchoring were the most widely used, with a so-called "Seven-Point Hitch" being generally used with tunics having shoulder epaulets, which served to keep the harness' body-straps in position over the shoulders, while the "Nine-Point Hitch" was employed with "RoboTunics" and other tunics that did not have shoulder epaulets to firmly retain the body-straps in position over the shoulders.
The "Nine-Points" of Anchoring typically used for a "HX" style harness consisted of - Front to Rear: 1 & 2, The two Frontal Quarter-Points of the Waist-Belt at the body-strap junctions ** 3 & 4, The two ends of the Chest Cross-Strap at its junction with the frontal Body-Straps ** 5 & 6, Two points at the Apex of the Shoulders, with the studs passing up through the tunic's epaulets to engage the "anchor-studs" placed on top (not used with a 7-Point Hitch) ** 7, The crossing junction of the Body-Straps at the center of the back ** 8 & 9, The two Rear Quarter-Points of the Waist-Belt at the body-strap junctions. "Six-Point" Anchoring was most commonly utilized with a "Ferrum-Boxed-X" or other "XX" style Harness being worn over a tunic having shoulder-epaulets, while the "Eight-Point" was used to provide anchoring of the harness-straps at the apex of the shoulders when a "Ferrum-Boxed-X" or other XX" was worn over a "RoboTunic" or other tunic without shoulder-epaulets.
"Ferrum" Boxed-X Style and "Micor" "HX" and "HV" Style harnesses, and later the "Lenatus" harness, were the most adaptable and commonly used harnesses for "internal-anchoring", with most of the "studded internal foundation harnesses" being provided by the "MHW" and the "THS", along with a lesser number made-up by the Natura Leather Crafters ("NLC") in the "Pannania" Province and the Royal Randorian Workshop ("RRW") in "Randoria".
Over time, two other alternate systems of internal anchoring came into use: - One method utilized two separate horizontal internal anchoring straps, which provided for a "six or seven-point hitch", where just a waist-belt and a separate upper-chest torso-strap bearing the anchoring-studs were employed to secure the harness at the usual four quarter-points on the waist and at the right and left sides of the chest for "H" pattern frontal straps, or center of the chest for "X" front crossing straps, plus the center of the back to secure the commonly used "X" rear crossing straps. This Double / Separate-Strap or "DS" securement method did not provide for anchoring at the shoulders and thus did not require the use of a full "Star" pattern internal-harness having a waist-belt, torso-strap and body-straps over the chest, shoulders and back. The "DS" Securement gained favor and wide use with tunics that had shoulder epaulets, which assisted in keeping the body-straps of the external harness in their proper positions over the shoulders.
Later, the so-called "AP" or "Anchor-Plate" anchoring system employing up to nine "anchor-foundation-plates" affixed to the inside of the tunic, and not requiring a separate internal anchoring harness, came into wide use, however the "Internal-Harness" or "IH" anchoring system employing the "full star-pattern internal foundation harness" continued to be utilized by many Owner-Masters, as it provided for the most rigid and secure anchoring of a harness being worn over a "servitude-tunic". Harness Anchoring Systems are further detailed on the "Proximo" Page.
Although the "Locked-Harness" requirements of the "Anti-Insurrection Statute" ("SAIS") had been relaxed, a number of Master-Owners, elected to keep their servants "locked" into their harnesses. This was frequently done so that servants could not remove their "servitude-attire", and therefore would always be properly dressed and ready for a "Call to Duty" on a moments notice. Consult the Servitude-Tunic Page for further details on Internally Anchored Harnesses.

DISTINGUISHING ELEMENTS OF A "MAGNUS" STYLE CUIRASS-HARNESS - Consist of a Functional or Non-Functional "Center-Back-Spine" Closure secured with Lacing or Rivet-Studs, along with Functional "Laced or Riveted" (Not Buckled) "Side-under-Arm" Closures that was intended for permanent mounting onto its wearer. A cuirass-harness that did not have "Center-Back-Spine-Lacing or Riveting", and also did not have "Non-Buckled" "Side-Under-Arm" Closures, permanently secured with rivets or lacing, was not technically considered or properly termed to be a "Magnus" style cuirass. Over time, the term "Magnus" came into wider use and it was sometimes improperly applied to a any cuirass having a functional or non-functional "center-back" closure, but without riveted or laced "side-under-arm" closures, or having improper "buckle-strap" secured side-closures.
The term "Magnus" was initiated by the Panthro Harness Works ("PHW") following their conversion of several cuirass units from "laced-center-back" closure to laced or riveted "side-under-arm" closures, with the original "center-back" lacing or riveting being left in place as a decorative element. One of the earliest of these so-called "Magnus" conversions was done on a cuirass-harness being worn by a man-servant named "Magnus", and the "PHW" subsequently adopted the term "Magnus" to identify the cuirass units so converted by them. While the PHW did the majority of "Magnus" type conversions, some were also done by the Micor Harness Works, Royal Randorian Workshop, Tryon Harness Service and few other smaller shops, as well as a few being done by individual Castra Harness-Masters. The "Magnus" Style Cuirass-Harness was popular with those Master-Owners who wanted their "persons-of servitude" to have an enhanced and "well-secured" appearance for formal events and exhibition occasions.
=============================================================================
THE "PANTHRO" HARNESS WORK'S UNIQUE "LOCKING" RIVET-STUDS - During the time when the "locked-cuirass" terms of the "Anti-Insurrection Statute" were in effect the "PHW" developed and introduced its innovative and unique "Locking" Medallion-Studs and Rivet-Studs for use in closing and sealing the "side-under-arm" closures on their "Magnus" Style Cuirasses. The Panthro Locking Studs were also offered for use in closing and sealing the side and/or back closures or other connections on various style cuirass or harness units. These "locking" studs and medallions were installed and "set" into place using a "spring-loaded" impact tool and the studs when properly "set", proved to be virtually impossible for the wearer to remove by normal means, thus preventing the un-authorized removal of his cuirass or harness. They could be, however, "un-locked" and released by an attending person with the use of a special tool when the removal of the servant's cuirass or harness was authorized. The "Studs" were intended for only a "single - one-time" use, as the "un-locking" of them usually damaged the internal "locking-tangs", and thus their locking strength and security were compromised if "re-locked" a second time.
As a demonstration of their permanence and locking ability, the "PHW" took one of their burly craftsman to an "Master-Owner's" Conclave and publically secured and "locked" him into a retired "traded-in" cuirass with a total of 24 "locking-studs", 12 installed into each of the two side-closures. He was given 15 minutes to attempt the removal of the cuirass on his own without tools or outside help. After the 15-minute time period of pulling and tugging at the "locked" closures, he was able to dislodge only a two of the studs, so he was allowed another 15 minutes with the use of a helper and tools to get the cuirass off his body. At the end of the second 15-minutes, he had managed to disengage about half of the studs, but was still unable to "extract" himself from the cuirass casing. The remaining studs were then disengaged using the special "un-locking" tool to remove the cuirass.
This demonstration was performed by the "PHW" at a number of venues, and as the "studs" were only available on cuirasses and harnesses made or refurbished by the "PHW" it helped to convince many buyers to acquire their "sealed and locked" cuirasses and harnesses from the "PHW" rather than from another provider.
=============================================================================
"DUAL DISPLAY" OR "DUAL REGISTRATION" OF PROVINCIAL " ID" OR NUMBER - The "Dual Display" and/or "Dual Registration" of two different "Servitude" Registration ID's and Numbers was unusual and in most all Provinces, Regions or Castra Households, such "Dual-Display" and/or "Dual-Registration" was not normally permitted. Only four Provinces - "Hestia", "Pannania", "Talmantus" and "Zernania" - would allow official "Dual-Registration", while the Provinces of "Antius", "Ferra-Solum", "Florentius", Gryphon", "Hamaria", "Norbanus", "Randoria" and "Vestia" did not sanction "Dual-Registration", but did permit the "Dual-Display" of differing ID's and Numbers. However, only the ID and Number of the Servant's "Province of Residence", (that is, where his Master or Owner resides), was considered to be official.
If a "Person-of-Servitude" ("POS") was sold, exchanged or otherwise acquired by another Master or Owner within the same Province, his current Provincial-ID and Number would generally remain the same, unless his new Master-Owner saw fit to have him re-registered. If the "POS" went into service in a different Province or Region, his Provincial-ID would normally be changed to that of the new Province and he would generally be re-registered within that Province, receiving a new Registration-Number. However in some instances, a re-assigned "POS", upon request, or at the option or desire of his new Master-Owner, would be allowed to retain his previous ID and/or Number , if the statutes of the Province so permitted.
Thus, for example, as "Ferra-Solum" did not officially sanction "Dual-Registration" of "persons-of-servitude", Servant-Warden "Tau" (as described and shown in the Mechno Tunic section of the Harn-Tunic Page), continued to be recognized within the Castra and Jurisdiction of his new Master, Reagent "Camus", by his previous "Tantullum" Province ID "TT-242", but to the "Ferra-Solum" Provincial Authorities, "Tau" was officially registered, known and designated as Servant-Warden "FS-44", as all Servant-Wardens in the "Ferra-Solum" Province were assigned two-digit registration numbers.
=============================================================================
HELVIUS SERVUS LOCARIO - ("HSL"), a "servant-slave broker" ("servus-locario"), in the "Muranus" Province, who supplied "persons-of-servitude", or as the "HSL" termed them, "Adjutores" (helpers), through "long-term contract" or "short-term lease" to various castra households and other clients in many provinces and regions, who preferred to, or at times, found it more advantageous to rent or lease a "person-of-servitude" rather than buy a "servitude-subject", and then have to board and maintain "him", particularly when the servant was only needed to perform a special trade or task, or was otherwise required for only a limited length of time.
The "Helvius Servus Locario" was subsequently issued its own unique ID-Code of "MH" - (Muranus Helvius), but the new "MH" designation was mostly applied only to the servant personnel acquired by the "HSL" following the institution of the "MH" ID-Code. The contract-lease servants ("Adjutores") already in service with the "HSL" generally retained the "MS" ("MuranuS") Province ID-and Registration Number previously assigned to them. Also, HSL "Adjutores", if from within the "Muranus" Province, generally retained their "MS" (MuranuS) ID's and Registration Numbers, while those obtained from outside "Muranus" were given the HSL's unique "MH" (Muranus-HSL) ID, and usually a new Number as well. In some instances an "Adjutore" with a "MS" ID would be re-assigned a "MH" ID, while usually keeping his former Registration Number, if he was later fitted with new attire or had his existing attire refurbished.
The "HSL", as a matter of policy, kept their stock of leased "Adjutor" Servants permanently "sealed or enclosed" into their cuirass or harness, marked "MS" or "MH", which they wore at all times, even while sleeping. Later, the "HSL" adopted a "Magnus" style cuirass, generally marked "MH", to attire and distinguish their leased "Adjutories" from the general "servitude" population.
OPTOR SERVUS LOCARIO - ("OSL" - Optor Servant Leasing Agency), owned by Reagent "Thalmus-II" of the "Optor" Region in the Oranus Province had over 100 so-called "Optor Contract-Lease" Servants, which were more commonly known as "Optor-Servants", "Optor-Men" or more simply just as "Optors", who were leased under contract to Master-Owners who needed temporary "servitude" help. The "OSL" got its start with Reagent "Thalmus-I" ("Thalmus-II's" father), who began loaning and leasing-out a few of his surplus "persons-of-servitude". "Thalmus-I" came to realize that "renting and leasing" of servants could be profitable, and over time, the number of "leased" servants increased to about 20, as "Thalmus-I" acquired additional "servitude-subjects" to meet requests for more "servitude-temporaries".
Following the death of "Thalmus-I", his son and heir, expanded the Servitude-Leasing Program and made it into a commercial enterprise, termed the "Optor Servus Locario" ("OSL"), and it became a major supplier of "servitude-subjects" for short-term loan or long-term lease. The minimum "loan" period was normally a week or two, and a "long-term lease contract" was generally for a month or more, with some lasting up to a year. The ID of "OO" identified the wearer as being from the "Oranus" Province Optor Servus Locario, which initially, was the only "non-provincial" entity to be issued its own unique ID-Code. Later, the previously established "Helvius Servus Locario" ("HSL") in the "Muranus" Province was issued the ID-Code of "MH" - (Muranus HSL").
To distinguish and "set-apart" contract-leased "Optor-Servants" from the general "servitude" population, most of them were attired in impressive brown leather cuirass units fitted with large Greek-Roman Style shoulder spaulders and undecorated waist pteruges, over a plain red leg skirt, along with a "mid-rise" collar and "Roman" style helm. Those "OSL - Optors" who could read, write or do numbers, had decorative front cross-straps applied to the front of their "Optor-Cuirass" units to distinguish them as such, and they were usually assigned to "Protocol-Duty" Service.
=============================================================================
RELIGIOUS BELIEFS AND DEVOTIONS OF PERSONS OF SERVITUDE - Many Master-Owners, especially those with larger Castra Households and Compounds and/or substantial numbers of "Servitude-Subjects", generally provided a separate "Devotional Sanctuary" in or near the Servant's Dormitory Compound for the use of their servant subjects, or would permit their so-called "Persons of Servitude" to worship in the Main Castra Sanctuary during specified hours.
Attendance by "persons-of-servitude" ("POS") at Sunday Sabbath Worship Services was governed by the rules set by their respective Master-Owners. In most Regions and Areas, "persons-of-servitude" who were allowed to attend a Sabbath or other Worship Service where required to stand in the rear of the "Sanctuary" and in most instances, had to remain silent. Also at the option of their Master or Owner, they could be required to be "gagged". Only in Regions or Castras with more lenient "servitude" rules, was seating sometimes provided in the rear of the Sanctuary for use by "POS" and/or would they be allowed to sing or pray aloud with the congregation. In most all Regions, only upon specific request from his Master or Owner, was a "POS" permitted to sit with his Master-Owner among the general congregation.
The religious beliefs practiced by many servants and slaves ranged from "Pagan" worship of several Deity Gods, such as Jupitor, Mars, Mithras, Zeus, Hercules and "Ahura Mazda", or "Monotheism", the belief in a Single Deity God, but not necessarily the "One God YahWey". "Martallas" was originally a pagan believer of "Jupiter" (Good Life) and "Mithras" (God of Renewal), which were among the principal deities of warriors and arena fighters, which "Martallas" had been in his earlier life. After sustaining a serious battle injury during Arena Combat, and having recovered to reasonable good health, "Martallas" adopted the worship of the single God "YahWey", but did not fully embrace Christianity or the Hebrew Religious Doctrine.

In most provinces, the "Color of Servitude" was orange or a light shade of red. A subject wearing an orange or red colored shirt, with or without a body harness, was marked as, and was generally considered to be a "Person-of-Servitude". Also in many provinces, if a Person-of-Servitude wore a shirt or other garment under his work-duty harness while in public view, it was normally required that it be of an orange or red toned color. Exceptions were generally allowed for a servant-slave outfitted in "dress" or "exhibition" attire, or when he would not be subject to being in "public view", such as, within his own master's castra household or compound. Here, Randorian Man-Servant "Oberon" is wearing a typical orange colored long-sleeve "servitude" shirt under his regular "Day-Duty" harness, along with a "low-rise" dress collar and "regular-duty" wrist bracers. man-at-arms-014,015 Nov-2007 550 high

ROME - Monday, August 15, 2011 - Rome City Police donned togas, capes, sandals and gladiator reenactment armor to arrest gladiator impersonators in an undercover "sting" operation aimed at ending a violent racket of intimidation of tourists and other gladiator reenactors around the Colossium, Piazza Venezia and other historic sites in the City of Rome. Police disguised as gladiators, trash collectors and tourists raided the gang, who are accused of attacking and intimidating reenactment competitors in a "turf-war" for a lucrative business in which gladiator reenactors charge up to 10 Euros, or about $14, for posing with and having their picture taken with tourists in front of historic attractions.
Above and Below - A rogue gladiator reenactor is being restrained, arrested and taken away by three undercover policeman posing as tourists, one of which has his arms around the reenactor's neck and face. Rome City Police estimate that around 30 such tradesman are scattered around Rome's various historic attractions. One rogue gladiator had demanded that a tourist pay him the money she had paid for a photo of herself with a another gladiator, but it turned-out that the two in the photograph were both police undercover officers. gladiator-arrest Aug-2011 500h x 623w

Two Open-Strap "Servitude" Harnesses illustrating the application of both the Servant's Name and Registration ID-Number displayed together, as was done by some Master-Owners. There was generally no strict requirement that both the Servant's Name and Number be displayed, but showing both the Name and Number made the servant-subject that much easier to indentify, particularly when "away" in a foreign province or region. The placement of the Name and/or Number varied with: -> One or the Other or Both being displayed on the front and/or rear of the harness, -> or the Number placed on the Front and the Name on the Back, or Visa-Versa, depending on the local statute and the preference of the servant's Master-Owner. harnequip-115 May-2010 440h x 686w

ITEMS FROM TERRY NIX IMPERIAL CREATIONS 281-484-1315 CST
Kalkriese standard bearer or cavalry mask commemorating the 2000th anniversary of Rome's loss of three Legions under the command of Publius Quinctilius Varus in 9 AD in the Teutoburg forest. Limited edition of 100 masks signed and numbered on back with certificate of authenticity. These are 100% white brass or silvered brass metal. You can also purchase them in yellow brass. Studies on this mask show it was used three different ways. One way is it was actually tied to the face like a Halloween mask and two different times it was attached to two different helmets. Masks are made to order and not kept in stock. Actual delivery time will vary because of this. All are made here in America. These is not made in India or China, just to let you know. Fixed price listed above for $250 is for the Kalkriese Teutoburg mask only.
VEXILLUM FROM TERRY NIX IMPERIAL CREATIONS 281-484-1315 CST
Upgrade pictured "F" is vexillum standard flag only with embroidered gold eagle and laureate trim on either side and back $195.
Upgrade "A" Standard Kit has gold laureate trim (with gold borders) going up both sides of the Vexillum. They also go up the back side as well. These laureate designs are custom made Nix Imperial Creation applications and can only be found in my works. They are influenced by similar laureate designs I saw on a Vexillum engraved in marble at the Newstead Roman Fort Museum on Hadrian's Wall. The vexillum pictures marked "A" has over 100,000 stitches just on the embroidered gold eagle. It also has red strips on the side etched in gold with a large decorated gold dick on the bottom and open cold cast work below that. Besides the vexillum flag itself, the kit comes with an iron spear head, hard wood ash pole, wood support rod that goes through the top of the vexillum. Gold colored terminals on both ends of the flag support pole. The kit as seen below is $265. This iron spear head can be switched out for a silvered brass spear head that was also given as a reward for bravery in Roman times for $150. That reward was called the Hasta Pura. Titus after the siege of Jerusalem, gave silver Hasta Pura vexilla to several of his men. Inscriptions in stone show the Hasta Pura also being awarded under Emperor Trajan, The Antonines Emperors and some undated grave stelli with others found under the Emperor Gallus as well.
