Credit Steve Peffley, Barbarian Extraordinary of Reading, PA, for this "tongue in cheek" decoration of a sacrificial shield he created for his performance of chopping a scutum with his falx at Roman Days in June 2003. The Falx was a legendary pole axe weapon with a viscous curved tipped blade, capable of dismembering or beheading an enemy with one mighty blow. We see the scutum after the initial attacks. It was later finished-off with a pila volley and Legion XX Legionary Greg Fabic's 4th Century Axe. Steve later demonstrated his skills flinging arrows with a stick and casting lead bullets with a sling, alla David versus Goliath.
